Exercise for Cellulite
Cellulite is a problem that affects the majority of the female population. Contrary to popular belief, obese and overweight women are not the only ones affected by this skin condition. Cellulite is characterized as an unpleasant sight of ripples of fat protruding on the skin’s surface.
It is most common in women rather than men. In addition, the area where cellulite appears on the body differs between the two genders. The former tends to have cellulite appearing on her thighs, buttocks, and legs; while the latter has cellulite which is mainly concentrated on the sides of his waist.
Treatment of Cellulite
Cellulite can be treated. However, for a treatment to be successful it must be able to achieve the following results:
• Fat cells must be minimized or reduced;
• Fat cells must be distributed evenly to enable better blood circulation;
• Tissues must be lengthened to achieve better skin appearance;
• Hormonal changes must be stabilized.
There are a number of ways to treat cellulite and some are proven to be more effective and more permanent than other alternatives. Treatments include body wraps, body creams, herbal supplements, medical pills, endermologie, mesotherapy, liposuction, and exercise among others.
Exercise to treat cellulite
Since cellulite is a skin condition caused by fat deposits under the skin, it must then be treated by removing the fat underneath it. To do this, you must stop resorting to so-called overnight products that will get rid of your unwanted cellulite. There is no such thing as overnight success and you can never replace the benefits associated with exercise.
There are two types of exercises that may help you in your cellulite problem. These are the following: cardiovascular exercises and strength-training exercises. The former deals with physical activity that elevates your pulse rate and makes you burn calories. While the latter involves weight training to help you tone your muscles.
Both exercises mentioned are needed to ensure a cellulite-free body. By doing cardiovascular exercises such as walking, jogging, aerobics, dancing and the like; you are burning off the fat. And for cellulite to be removed, one of the conditions that must be met is the reduction of fat deposits in the body. Moreover, toning the muscles by lifting weights will get rid of cellulite by replacing fat with lean muscles.
To target specific areas of the body you must do the following set of exercises:
• Legs: lunges; squats; leg extension; seated leg curl;
• Thighs: inner thigh raises; outer thigh raises; side squats; lunges;
• Buttocks: squats;
• Arms: bicep curls; triceps extension.
The above-mentioned toning exercises can be done after a warm-up of any cardio-vascular exercise. The duration of your warm-up should be at least 5 minutes, and do a higher level of cardio vascular exercise after. It is also advised that you do stretching to loosen up your muscles after your warm up. You have the option to use either machines or free weights for the exercises mentioned.
If this is the first time that you will engage in an exerciser program, consult your doctor. You may also want to ask your doctor to recommend a diet plan that will complement your exercise program. Be clear that you are concerned with your cellulite problem and would like to get rid of it by exercising.
