Cellulite Busting Shorts – Do They Work?

  BodyShape Hydroderm

You’ve been itching to wear your sexy shorts, and your bikini hasn’t seen the outside world since, err, since who knows when. You then decide to go to the gym 5 times a week, you go on the latest diet craze, and voila… what??? Your cellulite is still showing!!! This is because studies show that even if you forgo all your carbs, exercise till you’re weak at the knees, and swear off everything remotely labeling that it has sugar in it, cellulite will still be very much unwilling to part with your precious hips and thighs, and other body parts.

So what exactly is cellulite? Many of us know that it is plain and simple fat. Women, more than men, are unfortunately more prone to this phenomena than men. Why? Because women have elevated estrogen levels that can be a factor to fluid build-up. What’s more, women have thinner skin that displays the fat deposits more clearly. Knowing these things, what exactly is the cause this dimpling phenomenon?

  • It is, unfortunately, hereditary: Did you notice those dimples on the thighs of your mom and grandma while you were growing up? If you did, then it is no wonder that you are seeing them on your own thighs and other body parts.
  • More Body Fat: Of course, if you have a lot of body fat and you don’t exercise, then chances are, you’re not just seeing these babies on your thighs and hips, but in other parts as well.
  • Aging: As we age, we develop slower metabolisms, meaning more fat. This also accounts for the reason why many teenagers do not develop cellulite till later in life (unless, like stated in the reason above, they have more body fat than normal).
  • Thin skin vs. Thick skin: If you have thick skin, , there are less chances that you will develop cellulite.
  • Drinking lots of water: Not drinking the prescribed 8 glasses a day can increase your chances of cellulite.
  • Taking birth control pills puts you at a higher risk of developing cellulite, and so does giving birth.

It is said that the only established technique in cellulite reduction is anything that causes better circulation to wherever those darling dimples are (of course, not to include actual liposuction). The latest tool in the fight against dimpled derrieres is this latest craze hitting the cellulite market, namely, cellulite-reducing shorts and as wonderful as these things may sound, do they actually work?

Apparently, seventeen women took part in a study for one of the leading brands in cellulite reduction for a period of four weeks, combining an anti-cellulite cream (which seems to increase the efficacy of the shorts) while wearing anti-cellulite shorts, for at least six hours a day. A convincing 65% saw a distinct change in thigh circumference and diminished cellulite.

Now, these shorts look like normal biking pants, but the magic is in a layer that makes use of the body's heat to encourage, if used in conjunction with cellulite cream, the diffusion of the caffeine (a main ingredient of cellulite creams), which in turn, break down the layers of fat. If you’re not using it with cellulite cream, your body still apparently benefit from the shorts because it blends with your body’s natural movements to increase blood circulation in the area and inspire cellulite reduction.

You can comfortably wear these shorts under any number of clothes, but for those ready to shout with glee about an instant makeover sans scalpel, they say that it takes at least two whole months to see the effects and, mind you that's just for those with almost negligible cellulite.

Also keep in mind that even though you're finally (if ever) free from it, it will continue to be an uphill climb against cellulite, because, as always, you will have to have ongoing treatment to maintain your results.
